The Pirates' season ended on Tuesday night, falling to tournament host Eau Gallie by a score of 1-0. The game was a defensive struggle, as both defenses held the score to a 0-0 draw at the end of regulation. Neither team could find the net in the first overtime period. Finally, the Commodores scored on a volley from the wing to end the game in the second sudden death overtime period. Palm Bay's defense (led by Seniors Tom Fowler, Mason Evans, and Derek Robinson) set the tone physically throughout the game.

Palm Bay dropped their regular season finally on Friday afternoon to Merritt Island by a score of 5-0. Merritt Island produced an overwhelming attack early in the match, taking a 3-0 lead into the half. The Mustangs then netted two, quick, second half goals to increase their lead to five. The Pirates had multiple opportunities to find the net, but weren't able to manage any goals as they end the season with a mark of 5-14-2.
The district tournament begins Monday with the Pirates playing Eau Gallie in first round action. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at Eau Gallie High School. The Commodores won this season's previous matchup in the season opener, beating the Pirates 6-2.

The Pirates went out with a win in their final home game of the season, defeating neighbor school Covenant Christian by a score of 4-0. The Pirates jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead when Senior defenders Tom Fowler and Mason Evans both scored on headers from Ryan Freeman corner kicks. Two more goals were scored in the second half by Sophomore Vlad Alyeksyeyenko and Junior Johann Braithwaite, which were assisted by Cory Baker & Vlad Alyeksyeyenko. Senior goalkeeper Deandre' Wooten recorded his third shutout of the season. Palm Bay plays their final match of the season on Friday as they travel to face conference powerhouse Merritt Island at 4 p.m.

A sluggish performance by the Pirates resulted in a 2-1 loss to host Astronaut on Tuesday night. The Pirates never really managed to get things together, as the War Eagles scored the deciding goal with less than a minute to play, dropping Palm Bay's season record to 4-13-2. The Pirates lone goal came early in the second half when Junior Johann Braithwaite touched the ball over the keeper's head, allowing Senior Cory Baker to track it down and put the ball in the side of the net. It was Baker's second goal of the season. Palm Bay will play their final home game of the season on Thursday night vs. Covenant Christian at Pirate stadium. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m.

The Pirates came out with something to prove on Friday night, and posted a statement win by a score of 1-0 over powerhouse Cocoa Beach. The senior defense led the charge and caused probelms for the Cocoa Beach attack all evening. Palm Bay scored in the first 10 minutes of the match, when Sophomore Vlad Alyeksyeyenko sent a cross across the box, finding the foot of a diving Johann Braithwaite, who netted his third goal of the season. The win improves the Pirates record to 4-12-2. Three matches remain in the regular season, with the boys traveling to Titusville on Tuesday with a 4:30 showdown with Astronaut.

1/16/09:
The Pirates dropped their second straight game on Thursday night, as their record dropped to 3-12-2 on the season. The scored renmained 0-0 for most of the match, until visiting MCC found the net three times in the last 20 minutes, to make the final score 3-0. Palm Bay could not find the net all night, and will be without the services of standout striker Jesse Bathelt, who will be out for the remainder of the season with a cracked clavicle.
Friday night marks senior night for the boys, who will face Cocoa Beach at 7 p.m.

The Pirates lost a heartbreaker on Tuesday night to host Space Coast by the score of 5-3. The Pirates controlled the first 60 minutes of the game, taking a 3-0 lead with goals from Senior Tom Fowler, and Sophomores Jesse Bathelt and Eric Grand. Palm Bay had a potential fourth goal by Ryan Freeman taken off the board, sparking a momentum swing by Space Coast who scored five unanswered goals in the last 25 minutes of the match. Sophomores Danny Berrios and Jesse Bathelt also added assists. Palm Bay returns home on Thursday to face neighbor MCC.

Palm Bay extended their unbeaten streak to three games on Friday night, as they tied host Westshore by a score of 0-0. Neither team could find the goal, as both defenses battled hard all night long. Senior goalkeeper Deandre' Wooten recorded his first career shutout in goal, as the defensive charge was led by Seniors Mason Evans and Tom Fowerl. Next game is Tuesday night (1/13) at Space Coast.

The Pirates opened the new year in dramatic fashion, battling through a see-saw match vs. Holy Trinity, which ultimately ended in a 4-4 tie. Palm Bay started the scoring early in the first half, as Sophomore Jesse Bathelt connected with Sophomore Vlad Alyeksyeyenko, who scored his second goal of the season. The scoring continued on both ends (Palm Bay goals from Bathelt and Cory Baker), ending the first half with Palm Bay leading 3-2. Holy Trinity took a lead late in the second half, until Jesse Bathelt found the net for the second time during the match with less than two minutes remaining, thus resulting in a 4-4 tie. Senior Tom Fowler also had an assist in his season debut. Palm Bay faces Westshore again this week at 7 p.m. on Friday, January 9th (at Westshore).
