12/14/09:

For the second straight game, the Pirates lost a hard fought battle by the score of 1-0. This time, it was defending state champion Merritt Island. The Mustangs scored early in the game, and proved to be enough as the game went scoreless for the final 70 minutes. Senior goalkeeper Alex Gil recorded another outstanding performance, recording 13 saves.

The Pirates will close out 2009 at home when they host Covenant Christian in a varsity only match on Friday 12/18 at 5:30 p.m.

12/10/09:

The boys failed to find the net on Wednesday, as they fell to visiting Rockledge 1-0. The Raiders scored the lone goal of the match on a rebound near the end of the first half. Although they had several promising opportunities, the Pirates were shutout for the third time this season. Senior goalkeeper Alex Gil had another strong performance, recording 8 saves.

In JV action, Sophomore Sabian Salkey found Freshman Zerry Hogan who scored his first goal of the season with less than a minute left in the game, to propel the Pirates to a 2-1 victory.

The Pirates are on the road again Friday, as they travel to Merritt Island to face the defending state champion Mustangs. Kickoff times are 5:30 p.m. (JV) and 7:00 p.m. (Varsity).

12/8/09:

The Pirates traveled to Heritage High for the first time in school history on Monday night, handing the host Panthers a 5-0 defeat. Palm Bay got on the board early, as Junior Jesse Bathelt found Senior Ryan Freeman for his third goal of the season. The Pirates continued to control the field as Junior Jesse Bathelt scored twice, while Seniors Uche Browne-Marke and Johann Braithwaite also scored.

With their most recent performance, the Pirates are currently third in the Cape Coast Conference in team scoring with 26 goals, which trails only Space Coast (31 goals) and defending state champion Melbourne (29 goals). Junior Jesse Bathelt is second in the county in scoring with 9 goals, and also ranks second in assists with 6 (trailing teammate Danny Berrios who leads the county with 9 assists). Senior goalkeeper Alex Gil leads the county with 58 saves.

The boys are back in action Wednesday as the host Rockledge at Pirate Stadium. Kickoff times are 5:30 p.m. (JV) and 7:00 p.m. (Varsity).

12/4/09:

The Pirates lost in an exciting, back and forth match on Thursday night to host Viera 5-4. Palm Bay scored in the first minute of both halves, but it wasn't enough to hold off a physical Viera squad. The Hawks made some incredible defensive stops late in game, and were able to hold off Palm Bay's offensive surge.

Junior Jesse Bathelt (who is among the top scorers in the county) scored two goals and passed for two assists, while Junior Danny Berrios also added a goal and also had an assist to add to his county leading total of 8. Eric Grand also scored, and Senior goalkeeper Alex Gil had 8 saves and also leads Brevard County in that category.

The next game for the boys is on Monday, as they travel to face Heritage High School for the first time in school history. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m.

12/3/09:

Palm Bay returned home Wednesday, as they filled the net with goals and defeated visiting Cocoa by a score of 8-0. Leading the charge was Senior defender Johann Braithwaite, who recorded a hat trick by scoring three goals. Junior midfielder Danny Berrios was also heavily involved, adding four assists. Other players who added goals were Juniors Jesse Bathelt, Eric Grand, Tyler Falcao, as well as Seniors Wildency Zamor and Ryan Freeman. Junior Eric Grand had two assists and Senior Uche Browne-Marke also assisted on a goal.

The Pirates are on the road again today as they travel to face Viera in district play. Kickoff times are 5:30 p.m.(JV) and 7:00 p.m. (Varsity).

12/1/09:

In their first action back from Thanksgiving break, the Pirates played to a tie with host West Shore on Monday night. Palm Bay dominated play for most of the night, and took a 1-0 lead with 15 minutes to play as Junior Jesse Bathelt found teammate Wildency Zamor, who scored his first goal of the season. West Shore answered back with 10 minutes to play to tie the score at 1-1. Senior goalkeeper Alex Gil recorded 10 saves on the night.

The boys return home on Wednesday night and face the Cocoa Tigers. Kickoff times are 5:30 (JV) and 7:00 (Varsity).
